Brisbane-based photographer Mark Lobo will host his first Von Vintage exhibition at Paddington cafe Urban Grind from November 27.

Von Vintage, according to Mark, showcases the keepsakes of the past as remembered through the eyes of a dying media.

“It’s an effort to preserve the beauty in objects that once were so common place, now slowly finding their ways into op-shops and land fill,” he said. “Using old vintage film cameras, the images appear almost timeless – they could have been shot half a century ago or yesterday.”

The exhibition will be at Urban Grind, 121 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington. From November 27th until December 10th. If you’ve not yet been to Urban Grind then this is your opportunity to sample the great atmosphere and check out this great photographic exhibition.

THIRD: Seven with Another creatives include:

Alex Chomicz (film director) + Cezary Stulgis (sculptor)
Colleen Morgan (interaction designer) + Kate Stein (stylist)

I’ve just discovered that the art project ‘Papergirl‘, is happening in Brisbane! Papergirl Brisbane is a project produced by For Us By Us, that involves artists of all varieties submitting their artwork and having it delivered to the public. The art is not curated or filtered, it is just rolled up into bundles of three and delivered to the people the old fashioned way, paperboy style. Anyone can submit art to the project and it can be any kind of art including prints, photos, drawings, paintings, zines, creative writing, textiles and stickers. The only requirement is that it is flexible enough to be rolled up.

The artwork will be displayed at White Canvas gallery and opening night will be 3 February 2012. Then the next day the official Papergirl Artwork distribution will commence! And if you’re lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, you might pick up some free art!

Get your submissions in!
Yours in art,

If you are a fan of Gustav Klimt (which I am) then it is safe to say that you will probably be a fan of Abigael Whittaker. Similarly to Klimt, this Brisbane based artist combines dimensional figures with whimsical patterns, however, her works have a more natural, flowing, illustrative quality to them. Whittaker combines collage, gouache, graphite pencil and watercolour to explore themes of fractured innocence and abandonment of naïve trust, in her latest exhibition ‘Stones, bones and a pocketful of storm clouds.’ Be sure to check these beautiful tactile pieces at Jugglers Art Space, which will be displayed until 28th November.
