Choose your words carefully – they could change your world

We often forgot that with the rise of social media it’s not enough to simply send your message out into the world; it needs to be understood quickly so it can be processed and acted upon even quicker.

Do you know your target market?

The Neo Property Marketing Team possibly knew they were targeting bachelors when they conceptualised this advertising campaign for the sale of the property at 15 Queen Anne Court on the Gold Coast. Some might even say it’s spot on for the Gold Coast demographic. This advert is just shy of 500,000 hits on youtube to [...]

A campaign to die for: Illamasqua’s ‘Toxic Nature’ colour collection, Autumn 2011

As a make-up lover (yes, make-up is another addiction of mine!), I am often disappointed by the majority of advertising campaigns the high-end make-up brands deliver into the market space every year. They’re often the same drab looking old ads: a model – or in some cases, a celebrity – perfectly manicured within an inch [...]

Designing our environments

Nothing screams “rubbish day” like row upon row of bleak grey bin bags piled along the curb. But what if we could take those boring (and let’s face it, depressing) bin liners and create art from waste, at least until the rubbish collection truck finally makes its way to the front gates or sidewalks? Well the [...]

To goo, or not to goo? That’s Cadbury’s eternal question

Now I’m not loyal to many brands and chocolate is certainly no exception, but these little guys with their own personalities and quirks have me coming back for more every year – even to the point where I think I should “stock up” because its going to be a long hard year (or roughly 8 months) before I see them again. Talk about brand loyalty!

They don’t make them like they used to…

I loved …Paul’s post last week of Back to the Future: a photograph concept. Photographer Irina Werning recreated old childhood photographs, with some very goofy results. This got me thinking – isn’t it great that we live in 2011?! The advertising strategies and fashion in the 70s and 80s is something quite unbelievable, but my [...]

NAB’s social media win: the clever Valentine’s Day tweet

I think I’m in love. No, not because it’s Valentines Day and love is in the air, but because I’ve just seen the whole roll out of the cheeky PR stunt National Australia Bank (NAB) pulled over the weekend as part of its new campaign. A stunt which the bank timed perfectly with Valentines Day, [...]

Gender Stereotype Advertising

Have you ever noticed, every time you turn on the T.V, go into a store, or look at a newspaper, you are accosted by gender stereotypes? There are children’s Toy Commercials, which never show the fathers.  There are household cleaning product commercials where the woman is fretting over her mother in law coming over, god [...]

GetUp launches spoof ANZ Barbara bank ad

Seems everyone is talking banks at the moment … not necessarily in the positive  point-of-view. Our back pockets seem to be constantly being stretched to the limit, whilst our banking friends reap the rewards. However, the ever-enterprising world of advertising can at least take a humorous viewpoint and we can have a laugh. Have a [...]

Fiat 500 at Paris Motor Show

Remember how I posted a blog about the success of the campaign Fiat ran for the 500,000th Fiat 500 driving people to Facebook? In case you don’t, owners from around the world were encouraged to upload a photo of themselves and a story so the 500,000th Fiat 500 could be wrapped in Fiat owners’ faces. [...]
